Hostile Work Environment
Harassment in the workplace is not limited to sexual harassment. A hostile work environment is a form of unlawful discrimination and can arise from harassment based on your sex, gender, race, national origin, color, religion, age, or disability. When an employer subjects an employee to harassment and/or discrimination based on his or her membership to one of these protected classes to such a degree that it interferes with the employee’s ability to complete his or her job duties and the employee fears going to work each day, the employer may have constructed a hostile work environment.
Keep in mind that not all workplace abuse necessarily reaches the level of constructing a hostile work environment. If you feel that your employer is subjecting you to severe and/or pervasive abuse based on your status as a member of a protected class, contact Sidney L. Gold & Associates, P.C. online or call 215-569-1999 for a free consultation with one of our Philadelphia employment lawyers regarding your potential hostile work environment claim.
